Gien French Faience Large Handled Footed Bowl -14.25 x 12.25- Mint Condition

Rare entirely hand-painted French faience double-handled triple-footed serving bowl with a central image of a muscular torch-bearing man. Blue ribbons stream from his rippled shoulders. Four white galloping stallions surround him. Two torch-bearing cherubs flank him and sun rays light him like fireworks.

Stunning scrollwork decorates the borders. Glossy teal glazed rope-patterned handles and teal rims. Gien made only fifty bowls in this design, which is based on an antique Gien Museum piece. It makes a spectacular Easter or Passover centerpiece.

Marked "Gien France Peint Main" and numbered 43/50, denoting a limited edition of 50 bowls. 14.25" length x 12.25" width x 3.75 high. Note: Gien made a limited edition of 50 bowls in this design. This is one of the still-existing 50 bowls.
