This piece is not marked but came out of an estate with other similar pieces. Made in Murano Italy by Fornace Ferro one of the largest bowls FF makes shell-like mother of pearl, art-glass, centerpiece bowl with folded sides and a bold, natural, design. A great statement piece for any space.

This bowl is approximately 20.5" long, by 7" tall, by 13 wide. It weighs approximately 7 pounds. Small imperfections in the glass are typical and expected in hand made Murano pieces. A Murano Artisan used very old techniques called Lattimo, to create a milky, non-transparent look and mixed it with prominent black and gentle ivory mother of pearl mix enamel glass rods, creating a beautiful pattern of a real sea shell.

This technique gives the bowl amazing shell like look with a matte finish on the outside and smooth shiny finish on the inside. This technique, dates back almost 8 centuries, uses similar to enamel chemical composition and was known as majolica. High Gloss and Maestro imagination created a sea shell illusion for this large Murano Glass Centerpiece. Murano glass is glass made on the Venetian island of Murano, which has specialized in glasswares for centuries.

Developed in the Middle Ages, these artisans are using the same techniques and tools to fire a unique glass mixture in a special furnace, and add different minerals to provide the color. The liquid is then mouthblown or handcrafted into beautiful works of art.

As each bowl is individually handmade, sizes and coloration can vary. Small imperfections in the glass are a signature and many time small flecks of precious metals such as gold and silver are used.
